gal: Een okselknop is vergroot tot ca 5 mm, verkleurt naar uiteindelijk bruin. Binnen de knop één grote galkamer, van binnen bekleed met mycelium. De geelrode larve is solitair, overwintert in de gal en verpopt zich daar in het voorjaar.

gall: An axillary bud is enlarged to c. 5 mm long, en changes in colour from green to ultimately brown. Inside one large gall chamber, interiorly lined with mycelium. The reddish yellow larva is solitary, hibernates in the gall, and pupates there in spring.
