gal: De bloemen blijven gesloten en vergallen, binnen de vergrote kelk; de meeldraden worden zwart. In de gal een groot aantal geelwitte, springende larven. Aangetaste bloem vallen spoedig af. Uni- of bivoltien; verpopping in de bodem.

gall: The flowers remain closed and are malformed within the enlarged calyce; the anthers turn black. In the gall many yellowish white, jumping larvae. Infested flowers soon drop. Univoltine or bivoltine; pupation in the soil.
