gall: Spermogonia numerous, hypophyllous, initially yellow, finally black. The aecial mycelium is systemic, the ± cupulate aecia therefore distributed ove the entire lamina, mostly hypophyllous.

gal: uredinia ontbreken. Telia beiderzijdig op roodbruine vlekken, zwart, permanent door de epidermis bedekt, samenvloeiend tot 1 cm grote korsten; tussen de groepen gesteelde, 2-cellige sporen bundels verticale paraphysen.

gall: uredinia missing. Telia amphigenous, black, permanently covered by the epidermis, on chestnut-coloured spots, coalescing to 1 cm large crusts; between the groups of stalked, 2-celled spores bundles of vertical paraphyses.
