Cirsium arvense: plants diseased by Puccinia punctiformis

Cirsium arvense, Ooijpolder: infested plants grow up high with whitish leaves, giving the impression that the plants have been treated with herbicide.

gal: Geen waardwisseling.

gall: No host plant alternation. Spermogonia very numerous, mainly hypophyllous; their strong sweet fragrance is highly characteristic for the species. Aeci and uredinia similar, light brown, hypophyllous. Urediniospores with three pores. Telia similar, but dark brown; spores two-celled, on a short pedicel.

waardplanten: Asteraceae, nauw monofaag

hostplants: Asteraceae, narrowly monophagous

Cirsium arvense.
