gal Het aaltje voedt zich met het parenchym van de bovengrondse delen van de plant. De stengels zijn verkort en verdikt; geen galkamers. De stengels en bladen hebben sponzige zwellingen en vertonen groeistoornissen. De bloeiwijze is verkommerd. Bij doorsnijden zijn aaltjes zichtbaar, vooral door een stukje van de gal in water uit te pluizen.

gall The nematode feeds on the parenchyma of the abovenground parts of the plant. The stems are shortened and thickened; no gall chambers. Also the leaves have spongy swellings, and show growth disturbances. The inflorescence is stunted and disfigured. In section nematodes can be seen, especially by teasing apart a small piece of the gall in water.

opmerkingen Als het voedsel op raakt kunnen de aaltjes naar het oppervak migreren. Onder geschikte omstandgheden kunnen ze dan indrogen en vormen dan aaltjeswol, waarbij ze gemakkelijk door de wind kunnen worden verspreid.

notes When food runs out, the nematodes may migrate to the surface. Depending on the circumstances the nematodes may become dehydrated and become worm wool, perfectly apt for wind dispersal.
