Chelidonium, Greater Celandine

Dichotomous table for leafminers

1a corridor from start to end; pupation within the mine; frass in scattered black grains: Chromatomyia horticola

1b narrow corridor, soon turning into a large irregular blotch on top of the midrib; pupation outside the mine; frass powdery, in green clouds: Scaptomyza flava

1c galls, etc => Tables for all parasites per species

It is astonishing that this common plant is hardly ever mined. Each of the two species mentioned has been associated in the literature with greater celandine only once: the first by Robbins (199a), who adds “rare”, the second by Hering (1957a), not even on the basis of an observation by himself.
