Round, brownish pustules on the leaves, covered by a greyish brown felt and surrounded by a light seam.

Tilia americana, tomentosa.
Phytocoptella abnormis, Phytoptus tetratrichus abnormis.
according to the Fauna Europaea (2014), this species is known only from Central Europe (Austria and Hungary); citations from Western Europe in all probability refer to Phytoptus tetratrichus.
