The parthenogenetic generation forms 2-3 mm large bud galls on young shoots in late summer, that fall to the ground before winter. The galls, sometimes two together, are almost completely hidden by the bud scales. They are smooth, shining, obpyriform with a somewhat acure tip; just below the tip the colour of the wall often forms a light-coloured ring.
