Coptotriche heinemanni (Wocke, 1871)
Agrimonia eupatoria, France, dépt. Ariège, l’Oustal, Alliat © Steve Wullaert & Zoe Vanstraelen
the general aspect is like that of Fenella nigrita, but the mines are lightly contracted by silk, and no frass is detectable.
Rubus fruticosus, Goirle
Rubus fruticosus, Lettele: opened mine
Egg well visible, on the upper surface (contary to Metallus pumilus). The mine is a large, transparant, upper-surface blotch, yellowish green at first, brownish later. Silk is deposited in the mine, but the quantity is too little to influence its colour; also the mine does not contract, like in C. marginea. All frass is ejected through a small opening in the underside of the mine. Pupation takes place after hibernation, within the mine; pupa not in a cocoon.
A report of Rosa as a host plant by Maček (1999a) needs further confirmation.
Larvae from September till October (Hering, 1957a).
BE recorded (van Nieukerken, 2006a).
NE recorded (Kuchlein & de Vos, 1999a; Microlepidoptera.nl, 2009).
LUX not recorded (Fauna Europaea, 2009).
distribution within Europe
From Fennscandia to the Pyrenees, Italy, and Romania, and from Britain to the Ukraine (Fauna Europaea, 2009).
Emmetia, Tischeria heinemanni.
Rubus fruticosus, Korenburgerveen
John Langmaid (UK) has reared a number of adults from mines that had been positively identified as heinemanni; however, all specimens turned out to be C. marginea. At the other hand, DNA-analysis by Camiel Doorenweerd demonstrated that the larva in this “unmistakable” marginea mine actually was a heinemanni. Identification of the mines of this species evidently is tricky.
