Trifurcula alypella: occupied mine on Globularia alypum

occupied mine

mine

Oviposition at the underside of the base of the midrib. The mine begins as an inconspicuous whitish corridor with yellow brown frass. Next the corridor runs, somewhat wavy, along the leaf margin with a black frass line that varies in width but never takes the full width of the corridor. The corridor mostly in the end switches from upper-surface to lower-surface or vice versa. Exit slit usually upper-surface. Recognisable mines generally in the larger leaves: small leaves are completely and unrecognisably mined out.

hostplants

Plantaginaceae, narrowly monophagous

Globularia alypum.

larva

Yellow, head capsule light brown.
