Spermogonia and aecia missing; uredinia absent as well, although sometimes a few urediniospores are found mixed with the teliospores. Telia mainly hypophyllous, most on thick veins and petioles. Teliospores two-celled with a apical papilla; they develop on long, deciduous pedicels.
