Physodermataceae

Physodermataceae differ from Synchytrium in that the sporangia have a thick, resistant wall the gives protection against unfavourable circumstances. The sporangia are released upon weathering or rotting of the host plant, and enable dispersal. The sporangia germinate while releasing large numbers of zoospores.
