Up to 6 mm long black stromata in dead stems, with ≤ 0.3 mm sized perithecia embedded. Ascospores hyaline, 7-8 x 19-23 µm, surrounded by a mucilaginous sheath. Conidia brown, smooth, 4-5 x 7-8 µm.
