Apterae 3-4 mm, light brown with laterally a dark olive longitudinal band and bronze transversal stripes on the abdomen; the dark parts with a characteristic metallic sheen. They live in dense, small, heavily wax-covered colonies on the bark of lignified branches. Normally not attended by ants.
