The Fauna Europaea considers it a valid species, limited to Spain an the Balearic Islands; Niehuis (2004a) also considers <em>pumilus<\/em> a good species, but does not exclude that it might occur on <em>Phlomis crinita<\/em> and <em>purpurea<\/em> in the Balkan.
