The larva can migrate from one leaf to the other through the petioles. Frass concentrated in the lowest, basal part of the mine; there also the pupation takes place.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-hostplant\">hostplants<\/h3>\n<p>Asteraceae, narrowly oligophagous<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"latinnames\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bladmineerders.nl\/cichorium\">Cichorium<\/a> intybus, endivia; <a href=\"https:\/\/bladmineerders.nl\/lactuca\">Lactuca<\/a> sativa; <a href=\"https:\/\/bladmineerders.nl\/leontodon\">Leontodon<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/bladmineerders.nl\/taraxacum\">Taraxacum<\/a> officinale.<\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>A pest species in vegetable crops, especially chicory, to a lesser degree also lettuce (Darvas, Skuhrav\u00e1 &amp; Andersen, 2000a; Dempewolf, 2004a; Spencer, 1973b): \u201cchicory fly\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-phenology\">phenology<\/h3>\n<p>Larvae from February (Hering, 1957a).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-distribution\">BENELUX<\/h3>\n<p>BE recorded (De Bruyn &amp; von Tschirnhaus, 1991a).<\/p>\n<p>NE recorded (de Meijere, 1924a).<\/p>\n<p>LUX not recorded (Fauna Europaea, 2008).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-distribution\">distribution within Europe<\/h3>\n<p>From Scandinavia to the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, and Serbia, and from the UK to the Baltic States and Hungary; also Thrace (Fauna Europaea, 2008).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-larva\">larva<\/h3>\n<p>Described by Dempewolf (2001a), de Meijere (1925a), and S\u00fcss (1971a). <a href=\"https:\/\/bladmineerders.nl\/ophiomyia\/\">Spiracula<\/a>: front spiraculum a globular knot of 8-10 papillae; rear spiraculum with 7-9 papillae.
