At least in <em>Erigeron<\/em> older mines turn reddish=brown. Frass in isolated grains and pearl chains. Hieracium<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bladmineerders.nl\/aster\">Symphyotrichum<\/a> novi-belgii.<\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>May perhaps also occur on <em>Tripolium pannonicum subsp. tripolium<\/em>; see the note below.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-phenology\">phenology<\/h3>\n<p>Larvae in June-July and September (Hering, 1957a).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-distribution\">BENELUX<\/h3>\n<p>BE not recorded (Fauna Europaea, 2008).<\/p>\n<p>NE recorded (Hering, 1959a).<\/p>\n<p>LUX not recorded (Fauna Europaea, 2008).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-distribution\">distribution within Europe<\/h3>\n<p>From Finland to the Pyrenees and the Alps, and from the UK to Poland; also Bulgaria (Fauna Europaea, 2008); also Slovenia (1999a).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-larva\">larva<\/h3>\n<p>Described by de Meijere (1928a as <em>erigerophila<\/em>, 1937a as <em>asteribia<\/em>) and by Griffiths (1976c); achterspiraculum with 8-11 papillae.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-synonym\">synonyms<\/h3>\n<p><em>Phytomyza archhieracii<\/em> Hering, 1927; <em>Ph. asteribia<\/em> Hering, 1935.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"head-remark\">notes<\/h3>\n<p>De Meijere (1924a) described a new species, <em>Ph. tripolii<\/em>, bred from <em>Aster tripolium<\/em>. The mine was not described, and the description of the fly is too incomplete for recognition (Griffiths, 1976c). De Meijere described the larva in 1926a. Ten years later (1937a), while describing the larva of <em>Ph. asteribia<\/em> he noted a strong resemblance with the one of <em>tripolii<\/em>. There is therefore a possibility that <em>tripolii<\/em> and <em>asteribia\/erigerophila<\/em> refer to the same species.
