Dichotomous table for leafminers

1a small, irregular, full depth mine; larva with thoracic feet and sclerotised head:: Cnephasia incertana

1b mine larger, upper surface; larva a maggot => 2

1c galls, etc => Tables for all parasites per species

2a corridor from begin to end: Phytomyza aconitella

2b mine at least partly a blotch => 3

3a blotch, without a trace of a preceding corridor; frass dispersed equally over the mine: Phytomyza aconiti

3b blotch, preceded by a corridor that lies mostly in the tip of the leaf (the corridor may be overrun by the later blotch, but should be recognisable by the frass pattern); most frass concentrated in the first, apical part of the mine: Phytomyza aconitophila
