Hering (1957a) described from “Zygophyllum” mines, made by a young larva that mines the leaves from a sand-covered siken tube; he supposed that these mines, known to him from North Africa and Fuerteventura, were made by Tegostoma kabylalis Rebel, 1902 (Lepidoptera, Crambidae). However, this North African species does not occur in Europe. Suppositions that these mine were the work of Ochrodia subdiminutella Klimesch (1984a) or Microlechia chretieni (Aguiar & Karsholt, 2006a) do not seem probable, because these do not mine from a tube or have a different host plant.
