1a larva with chitinised head; in narrow segments of the corridor frass in a more or less narrow central line; pupation outside the mine: Elachista subalbidella

1b larva a maggot; in narrow parts the frass in two lines; puparium in the mine => 2

1c galls, etc => Tables for all parasites per species

2a puparium orange brown; front spiracula penetrate the epidermis: Chromatomyia nigra

2b puparium metallic black; spiracula not penetrating => 3

3a larva: the black warts at the outside of the rear spiracula small, without a root’: Cerodontha incisa

3b these warts large, with a deep ‘root’: Cerodontha pygmaea
