Fllen needles with oval, black, partly eriment, up to 1.2 mm long ascocarps that open with a longitudinal slit. Asci 10-12 x 110-155 µm, 8 spores, 2 x 70-110 µm, covered by a gelatinous sheath. A striking character is the presence of a number of black transversal bands in the needles.
