gall

up to 5 mm long, elliptic, often reddened, leaf galls the lightly protrude at either side. They are hollow and contain numerous mites; at the upper side is a narrow pore. Often a number of galls per leaf.

Asteraceae, narrowly monophagous

Sonchus maritimus, tenerrimus.

Locally sometimes also S. arvensis.
