the mites live as vagrants at the underside of the leaves. At high densities the leaves turn brown and wither. Petanović & Stanković (1999a) write of a white-speckled erineum.

synonyms

Phyllocoptes, Vasates, clinopodii. Roivainen (1951a) considers Aculops hamatus and Aculus prunellae synonyms of clinopodii, but the Fauna Europaea (2014) sees three valid species.
