Phytoptus stenoporus (Nalepa, 1918)

Acari, Eriophyidae

on Tilia

gall

Similar to the gall of Ph. bursarius, but lower; possibly also the opening is not slit-like.

hostplants

Malvaceae, monophagous

Tilia cordata, platyphyllos.

Also recorded from T. tomentosa by Béguinot (2000b).

synonyms

Phytoptus tetratrichus stenoporus.

notes

Descriptions of eriophyoid galls in the literature often are vague or inconcistent, and this is particularly true in the case of lime galls. A definite identification is possibly only on the base of the mites.
