Anoplophora glabripennis (Motschulsky, 1854)
asiatic longhorned beetle
on (mainly broadleaved) trees
The adult beetles cause some damage to the bark of young shoots. But the long and wide galleries that are made by the larva seriously disrupt the sap stream and facilitate fungal infections, causing a quick decline of the tree.
distribution within Europe
Despite several introductions the species has not yet been established in Europe. Because of the serious threat this species forms for both wild and ornamental trees much effort is done to prevent its establishment.
