Full depth blotch with broad extensions; small leaves can be entirely mined out. Older mines brown. Frass in grains, dispersed in the mine. Pupation outside the mine. In Rumex the mine generally is situated at the leaf margin.

Persicaria dubia; Polygonum aviculare; Rheum; Rumex acetoa, conglomeratus, obtusifolius.
P. aviculare is the main host plant.

Larvae in July (Hering, 1957a); one generation, hibernation as adult (Cox, 2007a).
