Apioninae

Apioninae

Apioninae resemble small weevils, and in the past they indeed sometimes were included in that family. Mostly they were treated as a separate family, but currently they form a subfamily within the Brentidae, one of the six families within the gigantic complex of the Curculionoidea. The antennae are not geniculate. The larvae develop in seeds of fruits, or they tunnel in stems or roots.
