Full depth, transparent, brown, gallery running along the leaf margin over the leaf tip, then considerably widening. The mine ends in a round excision.

Salicaceae, oligophagous
Populus nigra; Salix fragilis, pentandra, purpurea, triandra.
In Britain only on Salix purpurea (Morris, 1993a).
phenology
Larvae in May-June and August (Hering, 1957a). That agrees well with Augustin (1998a) who writes that weevils occur in April and July-August. However, Scherf (1964a) states that there is but one generation per year.
