Larvae and pupae in the stems. For the oviposition a wound is gnawed in the wall of them stem, that later is covered with a white, soon hardening secretion.

Equisetaceae, monophagous

Equisetum arvense, palustre.

In the laboratory adult feeding also occurred on E. pratense, sylvaticum.
