Upper-surface or interparenchymatous gallery that changes direction a few times, but never descends as low as the leaf sheath. Frass in one large lump. Pupation within the mine.
Two generations, hibernation as puparium.

Mandibles with two, equally sized teeth. Front spiraculum with 9 papillae; rear spiraculum with 3, strongly elongated papillae.
Reddish to blackish brown, 2 mm long, segment limits deeply incised.
Member of the subgenus Dizygomyza (Nowakowski, 1973a).
