The rear arms of the cephalic skeleton are unusually weakly sclerotised. The left mandible has 1, the right one 2 teeth. the spinulation is extremely fine, too fine to illustrate. De Meijere, (1926a) writes that the rear spiraculum counts 11-13 papillae, but but Pakalniškis (1998b) gives 8-9 in the description of his Chromatomyia hecate. There is a frontal appendage (de Meijere (1941a).
