Brownish, upper-surface blotch, preceded by a short, quickly widening gallery. Frass in numerous, blackish-green, regularly scattered granules. Secondary feeding lines conspicuous. Pupation outside the mine. Exit slit in upper epidermis.

Cichorium intybus; Crepis biennis, capillaris, paludosa; Lactuca virosa; Sonchus arvensis, asper, oleraceus.


Larvae in April-May, July, and September (Hering, 1957a).


Not known from the Benelux countries (Fauna Europaea, 2008).
