Narrow corridor from start to end, whitish, upper- or lower-surface, generally running downwards. Mine often along the leaf margin. Frass in distinct grains of regular size, alternating along the sides of the corridor. Pupation outside the mine.

From Scandinavia to the Iberian Peninsula and Italy, and from Ireland to Belarus and Hungary; also in Thrace (Fauna Europaea, 2008); Bulgaria (Buhr, 1941b), Japan (Sasakawa, 2005a).



Described by Meijere (1925a). Venturi (1939a) gives an illustration. The colour is said to be reddish-brown by Spencer (2973b), shining yellow-brown by de Meijere, yellow by Hering (1957a).


Agromyza blanda Meigen, 1830; A. albicornis Meigen, 1838; A. variegata Meigen, 1838 (not 1830).


Beri (1971d) describes the larva from an unknown species of Lamiaceae; this cannot be taken seriously.
