Upper surface, gradually widening gallery, often intersecting itself and forming a secondary blotch; no association with the leaf margin or the leaf venation. Frass sometimes in long strings, sometimes in irregularly distributed grains. Generally 2-6 mines in a leaf. Pupation external, exit slit mostly upper surface.
