Large, brown, upper-surface blotch with conspicuous primary and secondary feeding lines. The feeding lines are the more apparent because the semiliquid frass adheres to them. Pupation outside the mine; exit slit in the upper epidermis.

notes
The beginning of the mine follows a very constant, and seemingly unique pattern. Oviposition is close to the leaf margin (there is well-visible oviposition scar). A little distance more towards the interior of the blade there are one or two small perforations. They remind of the “test punctures” of Antispila metallella.
