Larvae bore in the stem, living in a cylindrical chamber just above the point where the roots join the shoot, which is the tender growing bud. Larvae fed head downwards facing the growing bud while frass accumulated in the upper end of the chamber. They need more than one stem for their development. Pupation in the soil.
