Generally but one egg is deposited on the convex side of a petiole, near he base of the leaf. The larva descends as a borer towards the rhizome, and hibernates there. Pupation after the winter in the rhizome.
Ar variance to what is said above (based on Stuke & Claußen), Vujić & Šikoparija write that the larvae develop in leaf buds, and state Reemer cs that the larvae develop in the peduncle.
