a leaf bud hs incompletely opened, the leaves remain small and are crumpled, the venation is thickened and sometimes hairy. In the folds some pale orange to reddish-yellow, not jumping, larvae.

notes

Probably it is but an inquiline of Contarinia quercina, the latter species being the real causer of the gall.
