The flower buds are swollen and do not open. Larvae gregarious, yellowish.

The identification of the material from G. pneumonanthe was not fully certain.

Sánchez & Bruun show a picture of galled flower buds of Blackstonia perfoliata, that are attributed by them to the species above; however, their identification has not been confirmed by breeding.
