gall
The flower buds remain closed and are somewhat swollen. They contain several cecidomyiid larvae, white at first, later orange. The gall soon drops off, and is also for that reason difficult to find.
host plants
Araliaceae, monophagous
Hedera helix.
notes
According to Dauphin & Aniotsbehere th species causes swollen and closed flowers buds in Eryngium campestre and maritimum; this is a mistake.
