small swelling under the bud scales of a current year’s shoot, mostly several together. In each gall a larva with the colour of red lead. Univoltine. The larvae hibernate in the gall.

Picea abies.

Houard (1908a) additionally mentions Abies nordmanniana, most probably in error.
