Green, sometimes rosy-hued, irregular, uni- or multi-chambered swelling of the stem, petiole or midrib, 1-3 cm in diameter. Larvae solitary, white to pale yellow; full-grown larvae in a white cocoon in the gall.

If the species really occurs on other hosts than H. portulacoides
is doubtful.
