Mayetiola heirochloae (Lindeman, 1888)
Weak swelling of a node near the base of the culm; protected by the leaf sheath a group of larvae lives here in a depression of the stem. Infected plants wither. Bivoltine, hibernation as puparium.

Cecidomyia heirochloae. The spelling hierochloae in not correct.
Seems a forgotten species.
