Rhopalomyia jaapi

“Rhopalomyia jaapi” Rübsaamen

on Artemisia

parasite

Buhr and Roskam refer to a gall midge that would cause abnormally hairy growth disturbances of the shoot tip and lateral buds, under the name Rhopalomyia jaapi. Buhr mentions the name between quotes. The same name, albeit without a description, is used by Jaap, with the author’s name: “Rübs. n. sp. in litt.”. The name is not mentioned in in the catalogue by Gagné & Jaschhof. It seems safe to conclude that the species never has validly been described.
