Pupparia ± 1 mm, oval, flat, almost translucent but, contrary to earlier stages, with a broad brown median band. Dorsally and laterally a number of spine-like tubular wax glans. On the leaves, in dense colonies.

Univoltine; hibernation as second stage larvae. Adults in June till August.
