Apterae 2-3 mm, black, wax-dusted. At the base of the stem, also in the leaf axils on top of the midrib.

Asteraceae, narrowly monophagous

Cirsium oleraceum.

Rarely Cirsium arvense.


Morphologically indistinguishable from Aphis fabae, therefore possibly synonymous with A.f. cirsiiacanthoidis (Blackman & Eastop).
