Apterae ± 2 mm, pear-shaped, shiny brown on head and thorax with abdomen deep green-black, and antennae and legs mainly dark brown-black; siphunculi very short. In dense colonies in the inflorescences, attended by ants.

The typical subspecies, Microsiphum jazykovi jazykovi Nevsky, 1928, does not occur in Europe.
