gall

The gall is the result of a deep invagination along the midrib.

hostplants

Anacardiaceae, narrowly monophagous

Pistacia lentiscus.

gall

Winged adults that emerge from the Pistacia galls settle on the roots of a variety of grass species, sometimes also herbs. Here several generations take place, until a generation on Pistacia follows in the end; the entire cycle takes two years.

host plants

Poaceae, etc.

“Agropyron”; Agrostis; Avena sterilis; Bromus; Dactylis; Hordeum; Ochlopoa anua; Poa; Ranunculus; Triticum; Veronica

inquilines

See Alophia combustella.

notes

In more northern regions where, Pistacia does not occur, the species may live permanently on the secondary hosts.

In Denmark found only on Ochlopoa annua, and easy to find, since the roots are white because of the copious amounts of wax-wool of the aphids.
