Females with eggs variable in shape, size and colouration; usually oval, strongly convex, brown; up to 6.5 mm long and 4 mm wide. Teneral females reddish brown with black transverse bands or radiating blotches. Larvae mainly on the leaves, mature females at the underside of pencil-thick branches. Hibernation as 2nd instar larva on the branches.
