Contrary to most Adelgidae there is no host plant alternation and no gall formation: the species effectively lives permanently on the secondary host plant. The species is fully parthenogenetic. In autumn and winter small groups of greenish aphids live in bark fissures. Only after the new foliage has expanded they move there. They produce much less wax-wool than Adelges laricis. Not attended by ants.
